Feminism: It makes sense

Hi, I'm Hope.
I'm 20 and from England. :)
Currently I'm doing an English Literature and Journalism degree.

I'm a feminist and proud, working against patriarchy and towards a more equal future. Or possibly just reblogging other feminists and pointing to their important points.

Picture: Background — a six piece pie style colour split, alternating black and grey. Foreground — a picture of an armadillo. Top text: “Classmates complain that they can’t understand Shakespeare’s “Old English” ” Bottom text: “Would like to see their reaction if they actually had to read Old English”

One of the funniest experiences of my life relates to this and it happened while I attended college in the states for a semester.
It was a History or British Lit. course and we were told that if we memorised the first 20 lines of the Canterbury tales we could get a mildly better grade. So I’m sat in this classroom in North Carolina and a boy with the most southern accent I have ever heard had memorised Chaucer. He didn’t speak he drawled. Middle English spoken in a Southern United States accent was so wonderfully hilarious. And no one understand why this is funny to me when I tell them about it. :(
Of course there is the theory that the Southern accent is closer to the middle English accent than the current English accent, but you may think of that as you wish.
But yes Shakespeare is a breeze compared to Chaucer which is only Middle English. But Chaucer is still simple-ish compared to Beowulf which is old english. Beowulf is hard.
