Feminism: It makes sense

that Martha is the only one of the new who companions that actually has a proper job and is going somewhere in her life…? And yet she is the one that gets all the hate.

Yes ok, they are all strong female characters but apart from Martha who is almost universally hated what do they actually do execpt run off with the Doctor? They really aren’t good role models tbh. I mean the final achievment of all of Amy, Donna and Rose is finding a man. Marriage to Rory, engaged to Shaun, and getting that alternate version of ten respectively.

Sometimes I really hate how sexist it still is.

The thing that made me really rage was that in eleventh hour you thought Amy was a police woman and I was all like ‘Woo, strong female character, good job, contributes to the community, this girl is awesome!’. But no she was just a kissogramme (something made into a joke that she was ‘just a kissogramme’ and should sort her life out) so basically she uses her sexuality and body to make money. Great role model there Moff, thanks. RAGE.

I understand the logic, oh they don’t have much in their lives they need to escape. But this theory falls down when you think: really who wouldn’t run away with the doctor? No one, everybody would go.

River is the only one I can get behind in terms of my feminist principles. She is strong. She is resourceful. She treats the doctor as an equal and he treats her likewise. She gets what she wants but is also compassionate. River is a role model. And although I love River/Eleven shipping, really I hope (without much belief that this will be true) that she will have no romantic connection to the doctor and is actually a Timelord/lady herself. This will obviously not be happening.

So basically the question I would most like to ask Moff is: will we ever get a female Doctor? Because why shouldn’t it happen?

Really I love the show but I do not at all like the ideology behind it. Feminism rant over and out.
